3 days skiing on high glaciers and 2 nights staying in a
mountain hut
We skied across the big gentle glaciers
(seen looking south from Monte Venezia)
islands in the mist -- peaks seen southwest
from our tour to Care Alto
ski tracks on the slope to the foot of the

on our exit north down to the Ponte di Legno road

Gi and I skied a circuit around the famous Drei Zinnen and the
Oberbachernspitze,
near Toblach (Dobbiaco) and Cortina d'Ampezzo:

We started on the groomed cross-country tracks
in Fischleintal (Val Fiscalina),
a short ways from Moos and Sexten
We met two other skiers at the Capella
degli Alpini
Gi on our final descent under the north face
of the Oberbachernspitze,
which we had climbed earlier that day from its south side.

The next day we skied a tour on Cristallo, a mountain
just north of Cortina d'Ampezzo, starting from a parking
area near the main road south from Toblach (Dobbiaco).
Monte Cristallo from the north -- the
"scharte" is the snowy cleft just to the right of the
dark rock in center. The tricky part of the tour is to
get through the diagonal line of cliffs below right from
the cleft.
