riding southeast down from Cortina d'Ampezzo, we took a break in the town of Valle di Cadore
 

the low point of our loop was at Pieve di Cadore, but when we started going up again on the main road we ran into a long tunnel with too much traffic, so we looked for another way, and found this pleasant bike path
 

. . . which led us to a view ahead to a lake, which (after we got back on the main road) we rode by above left
 

arriving at Auronzo di Cadore, where we fueled for the big climb - with gelato
 

almost to the top of the big climb up to Misurina

- (which we have by now ridden most of the way around)
 

next down to the road junction at Schluderbach (Italian name: Carbonin) -- we came from Auronzo over Misurina, but we're not continuing to Toblach / Dobbiaco -- instead we'll ride back down to our start in Cortina.
