Sharon and Ken rode from Kastelruth (Castelrotto) up to Seiser Alm, then continued east and made a loop down thru Santa Cristina and St Ulrich (Ortisei) and over the Panider Sattel back. But we ran into dirt roads between Saltner (Saltaria) and Monte Pana, and made it worse by getting off-route.  Next time I'd climb again from the west up to Compatsch, but go east beyond there only as far as the viewpoint just west of Saltner, then turn around and go back down the same way. Over 800 vertical meters climbing up from Kastelruth, with much at steepness grade 8% or more.
